LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 19 Oklahoma women's tennis team (12-4, 3-2 SEC) closed out a perfect weekend on the road with a dominant 4-0 victory over Kentucky (8-6, 0-5 SEC) on Sunday afternoon at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
Oklahoma once again opened the match by claiming the doubles point, marking the Sooners' 15th doubles point of the season. Julia Garcia Ruiz and Salakthip Ounmuang started strong at the No. 3 position, defeating Marina Fuduric and Ellie Myers, 6-1. The win marked the pair's team-leading 10th doubles victory together this spring.
No. 37 Edda Mamedova and Evialina Laskevich followed with another decisive result, defeating Reese Sager and Asuncion Jadue, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot to clinch the point. The freshman duo improved to 6-1 in dual-match doubles this season.
In singles play, Chloé Noël quickly extended the Sooner lead to 2-0 with a convincing 6-1, 6-3 victory over Jadue at court four.
Laskevich, a freshman, added another point for Oklahoma at the top position, defeating No. 112 Julia Zhu, 6-4, 6-2. The win marked Laskevich's third ranked singles victory of the season and capped a strong weekend performance, as she finished 4-0 across singles and doubles play over Oklahoma's two matches.
Sophomore Gloriana Nahum sealed the match for the Sooners at court six, topping Ellie Myers, 6-3, 6-4, to secure the 4-0 sweep. The victory also marked Nahum's team-leading ninth singles win of the season.
Three singles matches remained unfinished once the match was clinched.
