Garcia Ruiz, lead

No. 10 Sooners Blank Ole Miss, Earn Ninth Shutout of the Season

March 13, 2026 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN – The No. 10 Oklahoma women's tennis team extended its win streak with a 4-0 sweep of No. 41 Ole Miss on Friday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

The win marked the Sooners' second straight shutout victory in conference play and their ninth of the season, already surpassing last year's total of seven.

Introducing a new pair to the lineup, Oklahoma (13-4, 4-2 SEC) came out sharp, earning its 16th doubles point of the year to open the match.

At court two, Julia Garcia Ruiz and Salakthip Ounmuang posted a 6-0 win over Ole Miss' Alice Soulie and Riley Crowder. The duo improved to 11-2 this spring, including a team-leading 8-1 record on the middle court. Teaming up for the first time, Evialina Laskevich and Barakat Quadre clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court three over Brooklyn Olson and Beatrice Stagno.

In singles, No. 63 Edda Mamedova gave the Sooners a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-2 win on court two. The freshman improved to 3-0 at the No. 2 line since moving up in the lineup.

Ounmuang followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court five, and No. 30 Garcia Ruiz clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Olson on court three. Garcia Ruiz, a two-time NCAA singles qualifier, earned her first win of the spring at the No. 3 spot.

Up next, Oklahoma faces its second top-10 test in as many weeks against No. 7 LSU on Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center. First serve is set for 12 p.m. CT. Fans are encouraged to wear white, and a free T-shirt giveaway will be available while supplies last.
