No. 4/9 OU to Host JD Martin Invitational, Select Group Heads to Kansas State, Arkansas

NORMAN – The No. 4/9 Oklahoma men's and women's track and field team is slated to host the 23rd annual JD Martin Invitational Friday inside the Moiser Indoor Facility. A select group of combined events and distance athletes travel to Manhattan, Kan., on Friday for the DeLoss Dodds Invitational and Fayetteville, Ark., for the Arkansas Invitational.
 
At the home meet, open section field events are set for 9 a.m. and running events begin at noon. A majority of OU athletes will compete in the invite section, starting with field events at 3:15 p.m. and running events at 4:30 p.m. 64 athletes are primed to compete in Norman.
 
Admission to the JD Martin Invitational is free. Live results can be found via TimingInc.
 
At K-State, Pippi Lotta Enok, Angel Richmore and Ally Stephenson will compete in the pentathlon, scheduled for noon on Friday. Nicolas Bersier will begin the heptathlon at 12:20 p.m. and conclude the event on Saturday. Live results can be accessed via Flash Results.
 
Abby Jepchirchir will kick off the Arkansas Invitational Friday at 6 p.m. for the distance group. Gabi Barrera, Leah Jeruto and Peyton McQuillan race in the 3,000-meter run at 3:25 p.m. Saturday. Live results of the Arkansas Invitational can be found via Flash Results.

TOP-TEN SOONERS
The Oklahoma men's and women's T&F teams rank top-ten nationally in USTFCCCA's first NCAA DI Track & Field Rating Index after two impressive weekends at home and on the road. The men come in at No. 4 in the nation while the women rank No. 9. The men's No. 4 ranking is the program's best since 2008 and the women's No. 9 standing is the highest since 2011.
 
The OU men's team is ranked top three in four events and leads the nation in the long jump (7.59m (24'11") average) and triple jump (15.18m (49'9.50")). The men rank second in the high jump (2.13m (6'11.75")) and third in the shot put (18.54m (60'10.00")).
 
The Sooner women are ranked second in the nation in the long jump (6.25m (200'6.25")), triple jump (13.23m (43'5.00")) and shot put (15.58m (51'1.50")).

BACK AND BETTER
Oklahoma returns all six 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships qualifiers.

Senior Olivia Lueking aims for her fourth consecutive First Team All-America honor in the pole vault. Ranked as the top-two combined events athletes in OU history, Angel Richmore and Pippi Lotta Enok hope to return to the NCAA Championships after placing seventh and ninth in 2024. Shot putter Paige Low earned 14th at last year's championships for Second Team All-American.
 
BJ Green and Nikaoli Williams headline the men's team. Green returns after sweeping the Big 12 triple jump titles and earning two NCAA First Team All-America awards in 2024. Williams looks for redemption after qualifying for last year's site, but was unable to attempt due to injury.

NEW CONFERENCE, NEW OPPORTUNITIES
The Sooners enter their first season in the SEC, a league known for track & field dominance. The conference accounted for 14 individual national titles during the 2024 indoor season. Oklahoma leaves behind a 30-year legacy in the Big 12 that includes 84 individual champions.

PRIMED IN PARIS
Ralford Mullings returns after competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he placed ninth in the discus throw. The Jamaican standout will debut indoors for OU this season in the shot put.

SETTLED IN
Head Coach James Thomas enters his second season at the helm of Oklahoma Track & Field. In his inaugural season, Thomas directed the program to three school records, one Olympian, two individual conference titles, 15 All-America honors, 47 all-conference awards and 59 top-ten performances in OU history.
