No. 4/12 Oklahoma Wraps Up Outdoor Opener at TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 4/12 Oklahoma track and field team opened the outdoor season at the TCU Alumni Invitational hosted at AP Ranch Friday and Lowdon Track Complex Saturday. The Sooners collected 10 event titles and eight top-ten performances in OU history at the two-day meet.
 
The throws group got the meet going on Friday with the women's discus. Chesni Scott grabbed the Sooners' best finish in the event with third place and a 55.85m (183'3.00") mark. With this toss, she climbs to No. 5 on OU's all-time performance list.
 
The Sooners' swept both hammer throw titles later that evening., Brendon See took first for the men with a 63.60m (208'8.00") mark, securing his spot at No. 5 in Oklahoma history. Kassidy Gallagher also earned gold with a 65.89m (216'2.00") throw on the women's side. Kennedy Clarke followed in second place, recording a career-best 64.79m (212'7.00") for the fifth-highest toss in Oklahoma history.
 
On Saturday, Hilton Green earned Oklahoma's first title. The sophomore cleared 5.30m (17'4.25") for first place in the men's pole vault. Freshman Samuel Toili soon earned another win for the Sooners in the 400-meter dash, clocking a PR time of 46.97.
 
In the men's shot put, Tucker Smith took second place with an 18.64m (61'1.75") toss. Will Dibo followed in fourth with a career-high 18.09 (59'4.25"), the 10th-best throw in Oklahoma history.
 
A pair Sooners raced in the women's 100-meter dash. Alexis Williams (11.52, +3.1) and Morgan Little (11.53, +4.3) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with all-conditions personal records.
 
Freshman Julian McCullough made his outdoor collegiate debut for OU, earning his first event title in the high jump with a 2.15m (7'0.25") clearance.
 
Senior Jenna James made her mark in Oklahoma history with a 58.58 time for second place in the women's 400-meter hurdles. She climbed to No. 5 on OU's all-time performance list.
 
The Sooners swept every horizontal jump title Saturday evening. Starting with Anthony Riley, the graduate student secured the men's long jump with a 7.51m (24'7.75") (+2.5) mark. Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi followed as the women's LJ winner, registering 6.18m (20'3.25") (+2.9). Awakhiwe Ndlovu, posted an all-conditions PR of 15.48m (50'9.50") for first in the men's triple jump and Mbuyi grabbed another title with a 13.40m (43'11.50") (+5.4) mark on the women's side.
 
Oklahoma added its final event win of the evening from Kassidy Sani, throwing a career-best 48.25m (158'4.00") in the women's javelin. With this mark, she secured the No. 8 spot on OU's all-time outdoor list.
 
Two Sooners made additional changes to Oklahoma's all-time history books. With her second-place finish in the women's pole vault, Tessani Foster took the No. 10 spot with a 4.05m (13'3.50") clearance. In his OU debut, Henry Martin also finished second in the men's javelin, recording 64.02m (210'0.00") for the No. 9 all-time position.
