Sooners Add Two Qualifying Marks on Final Day of Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition Saturday at the NCAA West Preliminary Round, finishing the week with nine NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifiers across 10 entries.

Chesni Scott highlighted the day by qualifying for her first NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance. The redshirt sophomore recorded a season-best throw of 55.24m (181'3.00") in the women's discus to finish ninth in the West Region and punch her ticket to Eugene.

Freshman Domtila Cheruto added her second qualifying mark of the week, securing a spot in the women's 5,000 meters after clocking 15:38.72. Cheruto will now compete in both the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Elsewhere in the field events, Taylor Fingers recorded a personal-best leap of 13.12m (43'0.50") (+2.0) in the women's triple jump, moving to No. 7 in Oklahoma history.

Riley Ammenhauser closed out her collegiate career with a mark of 12.99m (42'7.50") in the women's triple jump, finishing 22nd overall. Hannah Pfiffner also wrapped up her first season competing for Oklahoma track and field, narrowly missing qualification after placing 15th in the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.84m (6'0.50"), matching her outdoor personal best.

The qualifying Sooners will travel to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, scheduled for June 10-13.
