EUGENE, Ore. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams completed day three of competition Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, highlighted by Ralford Mullings successfully defending his national title in the men's discus. The Sooner men concluded the meet with 16 points, tying for 16th nationally and matching the program's second-highest outdoor finish since 2007.

Mullings repeated as NCAA Outdoor champion in the men's discus with a winning throw of 65.81m (215'11.00"). The senior became the first multiple-time NCAA men's outdoor champion in Oklahoma history and the program's 15th men's outdoor national champion. He capped a dominant season in which he went undefeated in the discus and claimed both SEC and NCAA titles. Since transferring from Arkansas, Mullings finished his Sooner career as a two-time NCAA champion with a perfect 9-0 record in scored discus competitions, excluding the NCAA West Preliminary Round where athletes compete to earn qualifying marks for nationals rather than for event titles.

Senior BJ Green added six points for Oklahoma with a bronze-medal finish in the men's triple jump, recording a mark of 16.78m (55'0.75"). The performance earned Green First Team All-America honors for the sixth time in his career, capping one of the most decorated careers in program history. Green leaves Norman as a two-time NCAA outdoor champion, two-time SEC outdoor champion and two-time Big 12 champion in the triple jump.

Elsewhere, Kyren Washington earned Second Team All-America honors in the men's high jump after clearing 2.16m (7'1.00") to finish 11th nationally. The honor came during the junior's third appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

In the heptathlon, Angel Richmore sits 21st through four events in her third career NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance. The senior opened the competition with a time of 14.13 (-0.3) in the 100-meter hurdles, cleared 1.63m (5'4.25") in the high jump, placed second in the shot put with a mark of 13.87m (45'6.25") and clocked 25.40 in the 200 meters.

Oklahoma closes competition Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. PT with Chesni Scott in the women's discus. Richmore will continue heptathlon competition beginning at 2:30 p.m. PT with the long jump.
