NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams completed competition Friday at the John Jacobs Invitational, totaling an impressive 21 event titles and four top-10 marks in program history.
The Sooners opened strong in the field events, as Amiyah Norwood won the women's javelin with a throw of 43.60m (143'0.00"), while Ally Stephenson added a personal-best 35.17m (115'4.00") for second. Kennedy Clarke delivered one of the top performances of the day in the women's hammer throw, recording a personal-best 64.93m (213'0.00") to win and improve her No. 5 mark in OU history. Connor Jones also moved into the record book, throwing 59.10m (193'10.00") in the men's hammer to rank No. 9 all-time, while Brendon See placed second with a season-best 60.39m (198'1.00").
In the jumps, Kennedy Stringfellow highlighted the group with an outdoor personal-best 8.07m (26'5.75") in the men's long jump, moving to No. 2 in OU history and posting the top mark in the NCAA this season. Nebtom N'Da won the women's long jump with a personal-best 6.25m (20'6.25"), followed by Kassidi Watkins in second at 6.11m (20'0.50"). Hannah Pfiffner cleared a personal-best 1.84m (6'0.50") to win the women's high jump and move to No. 2 in program history. Tyson Ritz led a 1-2-3 finish in the men's high jump with a winning clearance of 2.16m (7'1.00"), followed by Julian McCullough and Trey Bartholomew. Zalaya Dupre added a win in the women's triple jump with a personal-best 12.54m (41'1.75").
On the track, Oklahoma's relay teams delivered multiple victories. Braden Parris, Koryee Wyatt, Khyland Wallace and Stringfellow won the men's 4x100 relay in 39.70, while Morgan Little, N'Da, Eva Kubickova and Jordan Atkinson captured the women's 4x100 in 45.53. The Sooners also swept both 4x400 relays, as Gage Hensey, Samuel Toili, Keith Griffin III and Carlos Tello ran 3:10.56, and Kel McDavid, Montana Monk, Abby Jepchirchir and Mia McGlade clocked 3:37.66.
Individually, Wyatt (10.31) and Kendall Johnson (11.69) each posted personal-best times to win the men's and women's 100 meters, respectively. Gabi Barrera claimed victories in both the women's 1,500 meters (4:42.04) and 5,000 meters (17:29.00). McDavid led a strong showing in the women's 800 meters, winning in 2:13.53, while Monk placed second.
Additional personal-best performances came from Watkins in the 100-meter hurdles (13.76), Nia Parks in the 400 meters (55.04) and 200 meters (24.30), Johnson in the 200 meters (24.42), and Abby Jepchirchir and Gladys David Mumbe in the 400 meters.
In the throws, Tyley Dotson secured a win in the women's shot put with a personal-best 15.52m (50'11.00"), while Maggie Mullings placed second. Chesni Scott closed the meet with a victory in the women's discus, throwing 50.84m (166'9.00"). Hilton Green added a win in the men's pole vault, and Tessani Foster and Emily Cloutier finished 1-2 in the women's pole vault, both clearing 4.15m (13'7.25"), with Cloutier recording a personal best.
The Sooners travel to California next week, splitting competition between the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa from April 15-18.
