STARKVILLE, Miss. – The No. 9 Oklahoma women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches with a 4-1 victory over No. 49 Mississippi State on Thursday afternoon at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.

With the win, the Sooners improved to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in SEC play, while Mississippi State fell to 13-6 and 2-6 in conference action.

Oklahoma continued its strong doubles play, securing the opening point for the 18th time this season. Julia Garcia Ruiz and Salakthip Ounmuang got the Sooners on the board with a 6-2 win over Emma Cohen and Thes Ntondele Zinga at court three, improving to 13-2 as a pair and extending their winning streak to five matches.

No. 30 Evialina Laskevich and Edda Mamedova followed with a dominant 6-1 victory over No. 52 Gianna Oboniye and Athina Pitts at the No. 2 position to clinch the doubles point. The freshman tandem improved to 8-1 this spring.

In singles play, No. 41 Laskevich extended Oklahoma's lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Oboniye at the top spot, marking her ninth singles victory of the season.

Ounmuang pushed the Sooners ahead 3-0 with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Mia Robinson at court five, also recording her ninth singles win of the spring.

Mississippi State got on the board at the No. 4 position, where Carolina Troiano rallied past Chloé Noël, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.

The match was clinched at court three by senior Julia Garcia Ruiz, who battled to a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Chiara Di Genova. The win marked Garcia Ruiz's 88th career singles victory, moving her into ninth place in program history.

Matches on courts two and six went unfinished following the clinch. At the No. 2 position, No. 72 Mamedova led 7-5, 3-6, 4-3, while Gloriana Nahum was tied at 4-4 in the third set after splitting the first two sets at court six.

Oklahoma continues its road swing Saturday with a matchup at Alabama. First serve from the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
