Oscar Lacides vs. Texas, lead

Men's Tennis Downs No. 3 Texas in Austin

March 15, 2026 | Men's Tennis

AUSTIN, Texas – The Oklahoma men's tennis team (11-5; 3-4) pulled off an impressive 4-1 upset over No. 3 Texas (14-6; 5-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center.

The middle of OU's singles lineup came in clutch with wins from the two, three and four courts to seal the dramatic match after the doubles point went in Oklahoma's favor to start the competition. The Sooners' consistency throughout the lineup held the Longhorns to just one point in the dual.

Courts one and two in doubles closed out the first portion of the match. Hank Trondson and Alejandro Melero were the first to bring in a result, taking their first ranked win together over No. 14 pair Oliver Ojakaar/Sebastian Eriksson. No. 53 duo Bruno Nhavene and Luis Alvarez followed, picking up their ninth victory over Texas' No. 13 team Sebastian Gorzny and Lucas Marionneau.

Oklahoma fired first in singles when freshman Johan Rodriguez came off the court with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 showing to put OU up by two points. Rodriguez's win marked his third ranked result of the season, this time besting the No. 65 player in the nation.

The Sooners continued the fight and inched closer to the upset as sophomore Orel Kimhi notched his first ranked win at the three line, 6-2, 6-4. He topped the Longhorns' No. 37 Sebastian Eriksson.

The clinching point came from court two where No. 108 Oscar Lacides downed his No. 20 opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

Texas's lone win in the match came on court six where Sooner Asahi Harazaki came up short to Marionneau.

The Sooners return to Norman with five ranked victories over the Longhorns and six total ranked results spanning the weekend.
