No. 9 Men's Tennis Sweeps Arkansas for Seventh Straight Win

April 10, 2026 | Men's Tennis

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 9 Oklahoma men's tennis team continued its strong late-season push with a 4-0 sweep over Arkansas, extending its winning streak to seven matches and tallying its 11th victory over a nationally ranked team on the season.

The Sooners were once again solid in the doubles portion of the match, claiming an early advantage as singles play began. After a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position gave OU momentum, the nationally ranked No. 6 senior duo of Luis Alvarez and Bruno Nhavene clinched the point on court one.

The Sooners' lead quickly doubled under unusual circumstances on court one in singles. No. 33 Alvarez faced No. 19 Jakub Vrba, but the contest was cut short early at a 1-1 score when Vrba was forced to retire due to injury.

The clinching point came from sophomore Asahi Harazaki on court six, who delivered an impressive performance. Harazaki dominated from the outset, taking a 6-0 first-set win before closing out the match 6-3 in the second set and securing the victory for the Sooners.

At the time the match was clinched, three additional singles contests remained unfinished, all trending in Oklahoma's favor. No. 62 Oscar Lacides held a 7-5, 3-2 lead in his match, while No. 89 Orel Kimhi was ahead 6-4, 1-0. Sophomore Alejandro Melero split his first two sets 6-1, 3-6 and prepared for a decisive third set.

With the victory, Oklahoma improves to 17-5 overall and 9-4 in conference play and Arkansas moves to 16-12 on the season and 3-10 in SEC matches.

UP NEXT

Oklahoma has a quick turnaround and takes on No. 8 Texas A&M in the final regular-season match of the season. The top-10 matchup is slated for 1 p.m. CT on Sunday,
