BATON ROUGE, La. – The Oklahoma men's tennis team (10-5; 2-4) fell short 4-3 in a road match to LSU (18-2; 5-1) on Friday evening at the LSU Tennis Complex.

No. 109 Asahi Harazaki pulled Oklahoma within reach of the upset when he took a 7-6(7), 6-4 win at the six position. The No. 6 Tigers claimed the final singles court and made it out of the dual on top.

Each of Oklahoma's five losses this season have ended in dramatic fashion, as each of the final scores have been a narrow 4-3 result. The Sooners have repeatedly erased deficits and remained persistent in matches and the competition against the Tigers was no different.

After dropping the doubles point and losing the first singles match, OU freshman Johan Rodriguez came away with the first point, winning 6-2, 6-3 to mark his ninth singles win of the season. LSU pulled further ahead with a second singles edge but No. 45 Luis Alvarez put Oklahoma back within reach with a 6-1, 7-5 victory on court one.

Harazaki battled on court six and his persistence paid off as he evened the score with one singles matchup remaining at the four spot. Sophomore Orel Kimhi fought off numerous match points and tied the second set at five-games-all but fell in a 4-6, 5-7 final score.

Oklahoma keeps up the road matches and will face No. 3 Texas on Sunday, March 15 at 1 p.m. CT in Austin, Texas. The Sooners return to the Headington Family Tennis Center to take on Auburn on Friday, March 20 at 5 p.m. CT.
