OU Looks to Continue Momentum

October 15, 2026 | Volleyball

NORMAN - Fresh off back-to-back top-15 victories, Oklahoma volleyball looks to continue its momentum this weekend as the Sooners welcome No. 4 Kentucky and No. 9 Tennessee to McCasland Field House.

Oklahoma (10-4, 3-2 SEC) will face the Wildcats Friday at 6 p.m. CT before hosting the Lady Vols Sunday at 2 p.m. CT, with both matches streaming on SEC Network+. The Sooners enter the weekend riding a two-match winning streak after upsetting defending national champion No. 12 Texas A&M in five sets and sweeping No. 9 Texas.

A WEEK FOR THE BOOKS
Oklahoma is coming off a historic week that featured back-to-back victories over top-15 opponents for the first time in program history. The Sooners rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat No. 12 Texas A&M in five sets Wednesday before sweeping No. 9 Texas on Sunday at McCasland Field House. The victories improved OU to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in SEC play.

MORE HISTORY ON THE LINE
Oklahoma has an opportunity to extend its historic run Friday against No. 4 Kentucky. A victory would give the Sooners three consecutive wins over ranked opponents for the first time in program history and mark their highest-ranked victory since sweeping No. 2 Texas on the road in 2014. It would also be OU's highest-ranked home victory since defeating No. 5 Nebraska in 1997 and the program's fifth all-time win over an opponent ranked in the top five.
Oklahoma's four previous top-five victories came against No. 5 Nebraska in 1988 and 1997, No. 3 Texas in 2008 and No. 2 Texas in 2014.

NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Sophomore pin hitter Alyssa Flack earned AVCA Division I National Player of the Week honors following Oklahoma's victories over Texas A&M and Texas, becoming the program's latest recipient of the national award. Flack was also named SEC Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 4.25 kills and 4.69 points per set while hitting .346 across the two matches. She recorded 15 kills against the defending national champion Aggies before posting a career-high 19 kills on .395 hitting in the sweep of Texas.

RUNNING THE SHOW
Sophomore Avaya Maga was named SEC Co-Setter of the Week after averaging 12.00 assists per set in Oklahoma's two ranked victories. Maga recorded 53 assists against Texas A&M before adding 43 in the sweep of Texas, directing the Sooners to hitting percentages of .279 and .318, respectively. The sophomore shared the weekly conference honor with Tennessee's Caroline Kerr.
