Assistant Coach, Director of Operations

Leah Pearman joined Oklahoma Athletics in August 2021 and has served as the Rowing Assistant Coach & Director of Operations since June 2023.

In this role, she organizes team events, coordinates team travel, alumni outreach & events, coaches the novice/walk-on team and oversees compliance issues.

Prior to her role as the Assistant Coach & Director of Operations, she served as a Graduate Assistant Rowing Coach & Interim Director of Operations from August 2022 to May 2023. In that role, she coached the novice team, assisted with administrative tasks, organized the team food, coordinated equipment travel & trailer loading and oversaw data entry & record keeping.

Prior to her role as the Graduate Assistant Rowing Coach, she served as a Graduate Research Assistant from August 2021 to August 2022. In that role, she created a sustainability map for Monarch habitat in Oklahoma, working with the Oklahoma department of transportation, utilizing GIS in conjunction with programming in R.

Simultaneously, she served as a Volunteer Rowing Coach. In that role, she assisted with recruiting & coaching novices and aided with administrative tasks.

Pearman earned two Bachelor's degrees from the University of Oklahoma – one in international security studies, with a minor in Islamic studies & Arabic, and another in environmental sustainability with an emphasis in science and resources. She holds a graduate certificate from OU in Geographic Information Science, and is progressing toward a Master’s Degree in geography and environmental sustainability.

Pearman hails from rural, central Texas, where her family runs a Corriente cattle ranch. She still remains very involved in the ranch and enjoys going home to see and ride their horses often. She also enjoys long distance backpacking, especially of the Olympic National Park and Appalachian Trail. She walked on to the rowing team while a student at OU and her dog, Kylo, now comes out on the launches.
