April 09, 2026 | Track and Field

NORMAN — Oklahoma track and field returns home to host the John Jacobs Invitational on Friday, April 10, at the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex, marking the Sooners' first outdoor home meet of the season.

Field events will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT with the women's javelin, while running events are scheduled to start at noon CT with the men's 4x100 relay. Doors will open one hour prior to the first scheduled event, and admission is free for all spectators.

Last time out

The Sooners are coming off a strong showing at the Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge, La., where Oklahoma recorded three event wins and 15 outdoor personal bests across the two-day meet.

Ralford Mullings highlighted the weekend with a victory in the men's discus in his season debut, posting a throw of 62.82m (206'1.00"), the top mark in the SEC this season. Jack Vincent added a win in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Agur Dwol captured the women's long jump title.

Oklahoma also recorded multiple top-10 program marks, including Chloe Rodriguez moving to No. 6 in OU history in the women's 400-meter hurdles and Jacelyn Neighbors tying for No. 8 in outdoor history in the women's pole vault.

Sooners in the rankings

Oklahoma enters the weekend with several strong marks nationally. The men's high jump ranks No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings, while the women's triple jump sits No. 3. The Sooners are also ranked No. 5 in both the women's pole vault and women's long jump.

Individually, Ralford Mullings holds the No. 2 mark in the NCAA in the men's discus. Leah Jeruto ranks No. 3 nationally in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Tyson Ritz (men's high jump) and Awakhiwe Ndlovu (men's triple jump) are both ranked No. 7 in their respective events. Freshman Domtila Cheruto sits No. 9 in the women's 10,000 meters.

Run it back

The Sooners are in their second season in the SEC, one of the premier conferences in collegiate track and field. In their inaugural season, Oklahoma captured eight individual conference titles and finished fourth on the women's side at the 2025 SEC Indoor Championship. At the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the men earned a sixth-place finish, the program's best outdoor nationals result in 28 years.
