BATON ROUGE, La. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams opened competition Friday at the Battle on the Bayou, highlighted by a pair of event wins and multiple top-10 program marks.
Jack Vincent led the Sooners with a victory in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking 8:55.73 to move to No. 7 in program history.
Senior Agur Dwol added a win in the women's long jump, recording a personal-best 6.27m (20'7.00") to move into the top 10 nationally.
Chloe Rodriguez continued her climb up the OU record book in the women's 400-meter hurdles, placing second in 58.42 to improve to No. 6 in program history. It marks her second consecutive meet moving up the all-time list.
Jacelyn Neighbors cleared 4.15m (13'7.25") in the women's pole vault to place seventh, tying for No. 8 in OU outdoor history in her outdoor debut for the Sooners.
Gabi Barrera recorded a runner-up finish in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking 10:54.77.
The throws group was led by Kennedy Clarke, who recorded a 61.58m (202'0.00") throw to place seventh in the women's hammer throw.
In the men's sprints, Kennedy Stringfellow clocked 20.79 to place fourth in the 200 meters.
Niqualas Chew placed fifth in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.50m (24'7.25"), while Colton Rhodes cleared 5.15m (16'10.75") to finish sixth in the men's pole vault.
Oklahoma returns to action Saturday at 10:30 a.m. CT with the women's discus. Running events are scheduled to begin at noon CT with the women's 4x100 relay. Live results will be available via Delta Timing.
