NORMAN — To kick off the month of February, the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team will host No. 4 Alabama in the second top-five matchup of the season inside Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners and Crimson Tide will go head-to-head on SEC Network at 7:30 p.m. CT with Bart Conner and Kennedy Baker on the call.
On Sunday, the Sooners will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, for the annual Metroplex Challenge. OU will face Arizona, No. 10 Arkansas and TWU inside the Fort Worth Convention Center at 2:15 p.m. CT.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Friday's meet will be action packed starting when the doors open. In Kids Zone, athletes from various women's teams will be in attendance handing out trading card packs to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Pizza Hut will also be providing free breadsticks to the first 200 kids.
The 2025 National Championship team will be honored with the unveiling of the championship banner in a pre-meet ceremony.

WEEKEND REWIND
Last Friday, the Sooners made their first trip to Kentucky since 2012 and walked away with a 197.550-196.475 victory to improve to 3-0 in the SEC. OU is now 16-0 all-time against the Wildcats. A pair of Sooners shared the vault title with juniors

CRIMSON CLASH
Friday's meet will be the 55
th meeting in program history between Alabama and Oklahoma. The Sooners narrowly lead the series, 29-25, but have not lost to the Tide since 2013 (24-0). Sisters Kamila and Natalia Pawlak will go head-to-head as Kamila is a freshman for the Sooners and Natalia is a senior for the Tide. Kamila is a floor specialist for OU, while Natalia primarily competes uneven bars for Alabama.
FANTASTIC FRESHMEN
The 2026 freshman class is one to watch through the first month of competition. The trio of
Mackenzie Estep,
Ella Murphy and
Kamila Pawlak account for over 25 percent of OU's routines this season. In 12 competition routines, Estep has recorded seven scores of 9.90 or higher, including a career high 9.975 on vault. Murphy has tallied five marks of 9.9-plus in 11 routines with a career best 9.95 on beam. Pawlak has been in every floor lineup, posting a career high 9.95 against Georgia. Estep and Murphy have won three of the four SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season.
YOUNG AND HUNGRY
With 11 underclassmen on this year's roster, the Sooners are younger than they have been in the last few years. However, the freshmen and sophomore classes have taken the reigns and are prepared to lead the team. The underclassmen have combined for 74 percent of routines competed in 2026 (71-of-96). The freshmen have contributed 27 routines through three meets while the sophomores are responsible for 44.

Lily Pederson have all competed at least three events multiple meets. Through the first three meets, the freshmen and sophomores have a hit rate of 98.9 percent (95-of-96).
CLOUD 9.9
After the first month of competition, 45 percent of the Sooners' routines have gone 9.90 or higher (43-of-96). With just 19 through the first two meets, OU doubled its output with 17 against Georgia on Jan. 23. OU has tallied 14 scores of 9.9-plus on both vault and beam, eight on bars and seven on floor. Prior to the Georgia meet, the Sooners had just one score of 9.9 or better on floor.
CLUB 197
The Sooners have posted a score of 197 or higher in 78 of their last 80 meets. OU is one of just three schools who have posted a 197-plus in all meets this season, along with Alabama and Florida. The program record of 45-consecutive meets with a 197-plus was snapped at the 2024 NCAA Semifinals. During the streak, 32 of the 45 meet scores were a 198 or higher. Currently, the Sooners have posted a 197-plus in 21 consecutive meets.
SEEING DOUBLE
With two quad meets on the schedule for 2026, the Sooners will see a pair of SEC foes twice during the regular season. OU opens the season in a quad meet featuring LSU, before hosting the Tigers in Norman in February. An early February quad meet at the annual Metroplex Challenge pits Oklahoma against Arkansas, before the Sooners travel to the home of the Razorbacks in early March.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
No. 4 ALABAMA: Alabama used an electric 49.675 floor exercise rotation to secure a 197.450–195.825 win over No. 22 Oregon State last weekend. The score tied the program's fourth-highest floor total. As a team, the Tide is No. 2 on bars and floor, No. 6 on beam and No. 7 on vault. Chloe LaCoursiere leads the nation on bars, posting four consecutive scores of at least 9.925. Alabama is one of just two programs nationally with at least two gymnasts in the top seven of the all-around.
METROPLEX CHALLENGE: The Sooners will get their first look at SEC foe Arkansas on Sunday in a non-conference matchup. The Razorbacks are currently No. 10 in the country and boast the No. 2 vault squad in the nation. Arizona holds a top 25 ranking on floor (No. 22) and has a season high of 196.800. TWU is off to a strong start, defeating two Power 4 teams in Pitt and Arizona this season.
QUICK FLIPS
- The Sooners four returning All-Americans are tied for most in the nation with Alabama, Florida and Missouri.
- Eleven athletes have competed at least one routine for OU in 2026.
- With a 197.500 in the season opener, the Sooners have scored a 197-plus in the opening meet of the year every year since 2017.
- Mackenzie Estep and Addison Fatta are the only Sooners with three individual rankings. Estep is ranked on vault, bars and floor, while Fatta is ranked on vault, beam and in the all-around.
LOOKING AHEAD
After Sunday's quad meet in Texas, the Sooners will get back to SEC action at No. 2 Florida on Friday, Feb. 13. The meet is set for a 5:45 p.m. CT start on ESPN2. This will be the Sooners' first trip to Florida since the 2022 season.
