NORMAN ā Junior forward
Kayla Keefer was named Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches National Player of the Week as announced Thursday, Oct. 22. Keefer received the most votes for the award among a group of nominees that included Mia Minestrella (Duke), Lizzie Rozmajzal (Ohio State), Christina Tsaousis (South Carolina), Emily Bowe (Loras) and Azul Alvarez (Baylor).
Keefer was also named Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week and Southeastern Conference (SEC) Offensive Player of the Week just days ago. She is the first Sooner to be named national player of the week since Renae Cuellar did so in October of 2012.
The junior forward scored four times and assisted on another goal as the Sooners earned road wins against Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Her hat trick in Oxford tied her with Abby Wambach for the most hat tricks in a season by an SEC player (four).
Keefer leads the nation in goals (19) and points (41) with two regular season matches remaining. Next up for Oklahoma is No. 23 Arkansas at home Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.
