Oklahoma Opens SEC Play in the Win Column

NORMAN — Norman natives shined in the SEC opener as the Sooners (7-0-2, 1-0 SEC) began their third year in the league with a 3-1 win against Missouri (3-4-1, 0-1 SEC) Friday, September 11.

Hometown names Narissa Fults, Elle Canty and Callie Sullivan all came up big as Fults posted a brace, Canty notched two assists and Sullivan saved a penalty kick.

Kayla Keefer added to her nation-leading goal total with her 12th score on the season, which also proved to be the game winner.

Oklahoma 3, Missouri 1
Fults got free in the box and jumped on a ball played in by Sadie Sterbenz and flicked on by Canty, scoring in the ninth minute.

OU knocked at the door for more until Keefer beat the defense on a through ball from Canty, slotting her 12th goal of the year underneath the Missouri keeper. Just 52 seconds later, Fults took a cross from Emily Davey to make it 3-0 by the 28th minute on the clock.

Missouri's Emily Derucki ripped a goal in with her left foot in the 49th, taking some momentum toward the Missouri side.

With the score remaining 3-1 to the late stages of the match, it was Sullivan that took the air completely out of the game by stopping a penalty kick opportunity from Rylie Morse after a handball was called in the box.
