No. 21/18 Oklahoma Improves to 3-0 in SEC Play

NORMAN — Junior forward Kayla Keefer became the first player in Oklahoma Soccer history to record three hat tricks in the same season en route to a 3-1 win for No. 21/18 Oklahoma (9-0-2, 3-0-0 SEC) against LSU (2-8-1, 0-3-0 SEC) Thursday, Sept. 24.

The Sooners also set a program record for goals in a season, reaching 40 through only 11 games. The previous record was 38, set by the 2024 and 2025 Oklahoma teams.

Keefer is up to 15 goals, tied for the Oklahoma single-season record which was previously set by Whitney Palmer in 2009.

Oklahoma 3, LSU 1
Keefer opened the scoring with a ringing goal from over 30 yards out, hooking a left-footed strike inside the right post for a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute.

LSU answered thanks to the return of Sariyah Bailey. After Brielyn Knowles played a header forward off a goal kick, Bailey gathered the ball and got free before scoring in the 38th minute.

OU answered in a timely manner, scoring the eventual game-winning goal in the 40th minute. Emily Davey was taken down inside the box before Keefer tucked a penalty kick goal underneath the crossbar.

Keefer put the exclamation point on a historic night, leaping high to score a header on a perfect cross from Kate McCallister in the 48th minute.

LSU kept pushing, creating a penalty kick opportunity for Bailey, although the striker clanked the attempt off the crossbar as OU ran away with a 3-1 win.
