Ryder Cowan paced No. 19 Oklahoma with his third consecutive top-10 finish to open the season as the Sooners finished 10th at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab on Tuesday.
Oklahoma (10th, +24) carded rounds of 288-287-289 at par-70 Colonial Country Club to finish ahead of five ranked teams, including two ranked inside the top 10.
Cowan (T9, +1) continued his strong start to the season with rounds of 72-70-69 to finish tied for 10th at 1-over par. The preseason All-America selection entered the tournament following a fourth-place finish at Inverness and a victory at the Gopher Invitational. The finish marked the 18th top-10 result of his career and his 27th top-20 finish in 42 events at Oklahoma. Through nine rounds this season, Cowan has posted a score of par or better in five. The reigning SEC Golfer of the Week, Cowan climbed to No. 2 in the PGA Tour University rankings last week.
Clark Van Gaalen (T22, +5) narrowly missed his first top-20 finish of the season, carding rounds of 71-72-72 to finish tied for 22nd at 5-over.
Bradley Sawka (T38, +8) entered Tuesday's final round inside the top 20 after opening with consecutive rounds of 71. He finished with a 6-over 76 to move into a tie for 38th at 8-over.
True freshman
Lucas Gimenez finished tied for 53rd at 11-over, while
Matthew Troutman finished 78th at 22-over.
No. 11 Alabama captured the team title at even-par, finishing five strokes ahead of top-ranked Auburn to defeat 15 ranked teams in the field. Fifth-ranked Texas Tech, No. 10 Vanderbilt and No. 14 North Carolina shared third at 12-over par. Texas Tech's Adam Bresnu won the individual title at 7-under and earned an exemption into the 2027 Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA Tour.
Oklahoma returns to action at the Williams Cup at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C., Oct. 18-20, before wrapping up the fall slate Oct. 26-28 at the Ka'anapali Classic.
