September 15, 2026 | Men's Golf

TOLEDO, OHIO – In its first event under head coach Jonathan Moore, Oklahoma men's golf finished tied for 10th at the Inverness Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Inverness Club.

The Sooners finished at 24-over par in a field that featured seven ranked teams. Oklahoma posted the second-lowest round of the tournament in Monday's second round, carding a 5-under-par 279, but opening and closing rounds of 300 (+16) and 297 (+13), respectively, kept the Sooners from challenging for the top five in their season opener.Ā

Preseason All-American Ryder Cowan paced the Sooners, finishing fourth at even par. Cowan carded rounds of 73-67-73 to earn the 10th top-five finish of his career. The low amateur at the 2026 U.S. Open, Cowan's second-round 67 marked the 37th round in the 60s of his career, moving him into the top 10 in program history.Ā

Connecticut transfer Bradley Sawka finished tied for 26th at 7-over par after posting rounds of 76-70-74.

True freshman Lucas Gimenez made his collegiate debut, finishing tied for 36th at 8-over par with rounds of 75-71-75.

PJ Maybank III (T52) and Cayse Morgan (T59) rounded out the Sooner lineup with finishes outside of the top 50.Ā

Auburn claimed the team title at 11-over par, bestingĀ Toledo and East Tennessee State by one stroke. Texas Tech and Ohio State rounded out the top five. Toledo's Bence Bertenyi captured the individual title at 3-under par.

Oklahoma returns to action Sept. 20-21 at the Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn.
