Men's Golf Continues Fall at Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational

NORMAN – Coming off a runner-up finish at the Gopher Invitational, Oklahoma men's golf returns to action Sunday at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational Presented by Charles Schwab at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. The 54-hole tournament begins Sunday morning with 36 holes, followed by the final round on Monday. The individual champion will earn an exemption into the PGA Tour's 2027 Charles Schwab Challenge.
The 16-team field features 14 nationally ranked teams, including No. 18 Oklahoma. Six of the nation's top 10 teams will compete at Colonial, making the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational one of the top events on the collegiate schedule.
The Sooners will feature a few changes to their lineup from their most recent tournament, led by Ryder Cowan, who set the tournament scoring record en route to winning the Gopher Invitational and was subsequently named SEC Golfer of the Week. Freshman Lucas Gimenez will move into the No. 2 position after posting a top-10 finish at the Gopher, while Bradley Sawka, Clark Van Gaalen and Matthew Troutman round out the Oklahoma lineup.
Oklahoma has won the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational four times, claiming team titles in 2024, 2020, 2019 and 2017. Logan McAllister won back-to-back individual titles in 2019 and 2020.
LAST TIME OUT
Ryder Cowan moved into Oklahoma's all-time top five in career victories Monday, claiming the individual title at the Gopher Invitational for his third career win. The Sooner won the tournament by six strokes, leading Oklahoma to a runner-up finish at Windsong Farm Golf Club. Cowan's 13-under 200 set the tournament's 54-hole scoring record by two shots, making him the third Sooner to win the event, joining Grant Hirschman (2016) and Max McGreevy (2015).
Led by first-year head coach Jonathan Moore, the Sooners (2nd, -3) opened with a 10-over 294 on Sunday before responding with a 10-under 274 in the second round to take a one-shot lead into the Monday. Oklahoma carded a 3-under 281 in the final round, while Georgia fired a 11-under 273 to storm back and claim the team title at 9-under.

THE COURSE
Colonial Country Club, which opened in 1936, has hosted the PGA Tour's Colonial National Invitation (now Charles Schwab Challenge) since 1946, making it the longest-running non-major event on TOUR. Designed by John Bredemus and Oklahoma native Perry Maxwell, the course has also welcomed the U.S. Open in 1941, the Players Championship in 1975 and the U.S. Women's Open in 1991.
FORMAT
Teams play 36 holes on Sunday and a final 18 on Monday. Sunday begins with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. CT and Monday opens with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
