Men's Golf Begins Season Sunday at Inverness

NORMAN — A new era of Oklahoma men's golf tees off Sunday as first-year head coach Jonathan Moore leads the Sooners into the 2026-27 season at the Inverness Intercollegiate at Inverness Club.

The 54-hole event begins Sunday at 8 a.m. CT, with the field playing 18 holes each day before crowning a champion Tuesday afternoon. Sunday's action will be streamed on YouTube, while Monday and Tuesday's rounds will be available on ESPN+.

Oklahoma has competed at Inverness Club three times in program history, finishing second in 2000, fourth in 2003 and third in 2024. In the Sooners' most recent appearance, Ryder Cowan led OU with a T14 finish.

The 18-team 2026 field features seven teams ranked in the Golf Coaches Association of America preseason top 25, including No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 9 LSU, No. 22 Ole Miss and No. 17 Oklahoma.

OKLAHOMA'S LINEUP
With the order set to-be-determined, head coach Jonathan Moore's first lineup includes unanimous preseason All-American Ryder Cowan, 2026 Big East player of year and Cincinnati, Ohio, native Cayse Morgan, PJ Maybank, Bradley Sawka and true freshman Lucas Gimenez.Ā

Austin Peay, Auburn, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Iowa, LSU, Loyola Marymount, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Toledo (host), Vanderbilt, Virginia, Wake Forest.

THE COURSE
The Inverness Club was founded in 1903, and along with the University of Toledo, served as host for the 2009 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. Inverness hosted the 2021 Solheim Cup in addition to previously hosting four U.S. Opens, two U.S. Senior Opens, two PGA Championships and one U.S. Amateur. In the future, Inverness will host the 2027 U.S. Women's Open, the 2029 U.S. Amateur, 2033 U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur, 2036 U.S. Women's Amateur, and the 2045 U.S. Open.
