Cowan Named Consensus Preseason All-American

NORMAN – Oklahoma men's golfer Ryder Cowan has been named a consensus preseason first-team All-American, earning first-team recognition from both Golfweek and Golf Channel.
The senior, who will tee off for the United States this weekend at the Walker Cup, was a second-team All-American and first-team All-SEC selection in 2025-26 following one of the top seasons in program history.
Cowan finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 14 nationally after playing all 43 rounds in the Oklahoma lineup. He posted a team-low 70.12 scoring average (-1.26), the third-lowest single-season mark in program history. Cowan recorded 10 top-20 finishes, including six top-10s and four top-five finishes, while earning two individual victories.
The Edmond, Okla., product tied a school record with a 20-under-par 268 to win the Ka'anapali Classic before sharing medalist honors at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational.
Cowan continued his strong play this summer, sharing low-amateur honors at the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills and advancing to the round of 16 at the U.S. Amateur. He also represented Team USA at the Arnold Palmer Cup, finished runner-up at the Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship and competed in the 3M Open on the PGA Tour.
Cowan enters the 2026-27 season ranked No. 7 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and is one of four SEC golfers to earn consensus first-team preseason All-America honors from Golfweek and Golf Channel.
The Sooners, under first-year head coach Jonathan Moore, open the 2026-27 season Sept. 13 at the Inverness Intercollegiate at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
