Soccer Wraps Up Slate of Games Against In-State Opponents
⢠Oklahoma leads the Southeastern Conference in assists/game (4.40), goal differential (+22), points/game (13.6), goals/game (4.6), assists (22), goals (23) and points (68). The Sooners rank at least in the top six in Division I in all of those categories.
ā¢Ā On the individual level, Kayla Keefer and Lexi Dendis have a number of national leads to their name. Dendis paces the country in assists/game (1) and total assists (5), while Keefer's goal total (8) and points total (17) is the best in Division I.
⢠OU has had at least one freshman notch a point in each of the first five games. In the win against Oklahoma State the Sooners had all of their scoring come from freshman as Kate McCallister and Kennedy Kaiser tallied a goal each. Both McCallister and Kaiser have two goals this season. Kaiser is on a streak in which she has scored a goal in each of the last four games. She ranks second on the Sooners with four goals.
⢠OU set a program record by not allowing a goal through the first four games. The Sooners currently rank third in the nation in goal differential (+22) and goals scored (23). OU is also tied for ninth in goals allowed, having permitted just one.
⢠The Sooners came in at number 22 in the latest Top Drawer Soccer (TDS) poll this past week. The Sooners were ranked as high as No. 22 in the TDS poll a year ago.
ā¢Ā ORU is 4-0-1 this season and is coming off a 1-1 draw at North Texas earlier this week. Their 4-0-1 record is good for their best start in program history. The Golden Eagles have wins against Central Arkansas, Rogers State, UC Riverside and Friends (KS). Striker Brianna Castleberry paces the attack with a team-best four goals.
⢠OU is 17-3 against Oral Roberts and 4-2 in Tulsa. The Sooners have won six in a row against the Golden Eagles and two straight in Tulsa. The last meeting resulted in a 4-1 win against ORU August 25, 2024 at John Crain Field.
⢠Junior forward Kayla Keefer was named Southeastern Conference (SEC) Offensive Player of the Week and was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week after the opening week of the season.
⢠Keefer became the first Sooner to earn the SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor since OU joined the league in 2024.Ā
8: The 2026 roster features eight freshmen and eight transfers making up the 29-player roster. Transfers arrive from schools such as Arizona, Cal State Northridge, Pepperdine, NJIT, MTSU, Marshall and Kansas.
13: Oklahoma returns 13Ā players from last year's team, 11Ā of which earned minutes in the 2025 season. Ally Laccinole, an SEC All-Freshman selection, tallied the most minutes by a returner with 1,561 on the backline.
18: The Sooners have an 18-match schedule that features eight regular season contests at John Crain Field and two exhibitions. The Sooners play three non-conference matches at home and five in SEC play.
22: Kayla Keefer led the Sooners with 22 pointsĀ in 2025 and she returns for her junior season this year. The forward posted seven goals (second most on the team) and paced OU with eight assists.
⢠Five Sooners were tabbed to the SEC Preseason Watch List including Elle Canty, Lexi Dendis, Kayla Keefer, Narissa Fults and Ally Laccinole. The group is made up of two sophomores and three juniors.Ā
⢠Junior transfer Fernanda Dantas was also named to the United Soccer Coaches MAC Hermann Trophy Defenders to Watch List. Players who earned all-region honors in 2025 and are returning for this season are eligible to be on the list.
Oklahoma's roster features 13 returners, 11 of which lettered last season.Ā

⢠The Sooners reached double-digit wins for consecutive seasons with a 10-win campaign in 2025. It's the third time in program history that OU soccer has tallied at least 10 wins in consecutive seasons. The Sooners will look to tie a program record with three straight in 2026. Additionally, OU's four losses were the fewest in a season in program history.
ā¢Ā OU set a program record by being ranked in the national polls for four consecutive weeks during the 2025 season. Oklahoma was ranked as high as No. 19 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and No. 22 in the Top Drawer Soccer Poll. It was the first time since 2017 that the Sooners broke the top 25 rankings.
ā¢Ā 2025 also saw OU set a program record for points (116) while tying for the most home wins in a season (eight), most goals (38) and most assists (40).Ā
