OU to Host Inaugural SEC/Big Ten Volleyball Challenge Matches

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma volleyball team will host three schools for a total of four matches during the inaugural SEC/Big Ten Volleyball Challenge Week in September, the conferences announced Monday.
OU will welcome SEC foe Ole Miss and Big Ten members Ohio State and Washington to McCasland Field House Sept. 2-4, with each of the SEC teams playing a match against each of the Big Ten squads.
The Sooners will face Ohio State on Sept. 3 and Washington on Sept. 4. The other two matches in Norman will pit Ole Miss against Ohio State on Sept. 2 and Ole Miss vs. Washington on Sept. 3.
McCasland Field House will serve as one of 11 sites for the challenge. Ten of the 11 sites are campus locations, while the other is Wrigley Field, home of Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs. Missouri will face Nebraska and Kentucky will take on Penn State on Sept. 6 in the historic stadium.
"Bringing the SEC and Big Ten together for a championship-caliber volleyball showcase, culminating at an iconic venue like Wrigley Field, reflects the extraordinary momentum of the sport," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. "This initiative not only elevates volleyball on a national stage but also underscores a continued growth and investment in women's athletics. We are proud to be part of an event that celebrates the competitive excellence of these student-athletes while helping shape an even more prominent future for women's athletics."
All 16 SEC schools and all 18 Big Ten institutions will participate in the challenge. Ticket and television information will be announced at a later date.
