NORMAN - Junior Mikala Young put down a match-high 17 kills as Oklahoma volleyball secured its second straight home sweep and fourth overall, defeating East Texas A&M (25-22, 25-21, 25-13) Tuesday night at McCasland Field House.

The Lions (6-4) kept Oklahoma (5-2) within reach through much of the opening two sets, but the Sooners delivered down the stretch in both before taking command from the start of the third. OU finished the night with a 42-31 advantage in kills, six aces and six blocks while holding East Texas A&M to a .196 hitting percentage.

Young paced the attack with 17 kills on 38 attempts while adding four digs. Junior Alaleh Tolliver joined her in double figures with 10 kills on a .318 clip and added five digs and an ace. Junior Carley Butler contributed seven kills with just one error to hit .375 and added two blocks.

Sophomore setter Avaya Maga handed out 32 assists to go with five digs, two blocks and an ace. Sophomore libero Aniya Warren anchored the back row with 17 digs, while McKenna Brand added eight. Ada Awagu made an impact in the third set with three service aces and two blocks.

SET ONE
The opening frame featured 12 ties and six lead changes as neither side was able to create much separation. Oklahoma held a 19-16 advantage before East Texas A&M worked its way back and took a 21-20 lead. Young answered with a kill to even the set, and after the Lions briefly moved back in front at 22-21, Young took over. She accounted for each of Oklahoma's final four points, putting down four consecutive kills to turn a one-point deficit into a 25-22 victory.

SET TWO
Oklahoma created its first cushion with five straight points early in the second, turning a 3-3 tie into an 8-3 lead behind three consecutive Young kills and a Hani ace. The advantage grew to nine at 16-7 before East Texas A&M mounted a response, eventually cutting the margin to one at 21-20. Tolliver stopped the run with a kill before adding another to make it 23-20. Hani later put OU at set point, and Flack finished the frame with a kill for the 25-21 win.

SET THREE
The Sooners wasted little time establishing control in the third. Back-to-back Awagu aces helped OU race out to a 4-0 advantage, and a six-point run behind Warren's serve later stretched the lead from 8-5 to 14-5. Oklahoma continued to pull away, with Awagu adding her third ace for an 18-9 advantage. The Sooners pushed the margin to 12 at 22-10 before an Awagu block closed out the 25-13 set and the sweep.

LOOKING AHEAD
Oklahoma closes out nonconference play later this week in Bowling Green, Ky. The Sooners will face Western Kentucky on Thursday at 6 p.m. and East Tennessee State on Friday at 3 p.m.
