Oklahoma Set for SEC Rowing Championship Sunday

May 08, 2026 | Rowing

NORMAN — The Oklahoma rowing team heads to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to compete in the second annual SEC Championship on Melton Lake this Sunday, May 10.

OU will face fellow SEC opponents No. 1 Texas, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 13 Alabama on the water Sunday morning. The 2026 season marks Oklahoma's second year in the conference after 15 seasons in the Big 12, as the Sooners look to capture their first conference title since 2014.

All six championship races will follow a finals-only format, with one boat per school entered in each event. Racing will begin at 8:05 a.m. CT and continue every 15 minutes, culminating with the first varsity eight at 9:20 a.m. Each race is a 2,000-meter sprint, with teams accumulating points across all six events to determine the overall conference champion.

Oklahoma has already competed on Melton Lake once this season, collecting six race wins and 15 top-three finishes over two days at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on March 14-15.

The Sooners are coming off season-best performances at the Lake Wheeler Invitational on April 24-25, where they recorded 11 top-three finishes and one race victory over two days in Raleigh, N.C.

The 2026 SEC Rowing Championship will air live on SECN+ beginning at 8 a.m. CT, and live results will be available through HereNow.
