Sooners Conclude Fall Opener in Oklahoma City

NORMAN ā The University of Oklahoma rowing team secured seven wins and 16 top-three finishes at the annual Head of the Oklahoma regatta Saturday in Oklahoma City, Okla.
OU opened racing Saturday morning with 12 pairs and 12 doubles, sweeping the podium in both races. Sophomore Hanna Sättler and junior Lana Tucic crossed first in the women's collegiate pairs, while sophomore Hannah Claughton finished on top in the women's collegiate singles.Ā
Racing picked up again in the afternoon, where Oklahoma produced similar outcomes in the women's collegiate 4+ and women's collegiate 8+. All seven of the Sooner fours finished sequentially, as did all four of the varsity eights.Ā
For the third year in a row, the Sooners defended their title and brought the Ackerman Cup back to Norman. During the OG&E NightSprints, OU captured both the women's collegiate petite 8+ final and women's collegiate 8+ grand final titles, with all boats earning either first or second place finishes.
OU travels north to Princeton, N.J., for the Princeton Chase on Sunday, Nov. 1, before heading to New York City for a scrimmage with Columbia on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to wrap the fall season.
