FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — No. 24 Oklahoma fell in the series opener at No. 17 Arkansas Friday evening, 12-2, in seven innings.
After a scoreless first inning, the Sooners (30-17, 12-13 SEC) got on the board first in the second inning courtesy of an RBI single from junior Dasan Harris.
The Razorbacks (33-17, 14-11) would outscore the Sooners 12-1 over the final five and a half innings en route to the run-rule victory. Arkansas hit four home runs in the contest.
OU added its second run in the fifth inning after a Deiten Lachance single and error in right field allowed Camden Johnson to come around after his leadoff double.
Freshman Nick Wesloski was a bright spot in the contest for OU, going three innings of one-run ball on no hits and one walk to go with a career-high tying five strikeouts. Fellow freshman Brisco Smith made his season debut on the mound in the seventh, registering one flyout.
