OU Edged in Late Innings by Arkansas

May 09, 2026 | Baseball

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — No. 24 Oklahoma fell in the second game of the series Saturday to No. 17 Arkansas by a final of 12-8.

The Sooners (30-18, 12-14) rallied from a two-run deficit to hold a three-run lead going to the bottom of the eighth before the Razorbacks (34-17, 15-11) rattled off seven runs to take the win and series.

A back-and-forth contest from the start, the teams traded runs in three of nine innings, including innings with multiple runs from both teams.

OU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Deiten Lachance's seventh home run of the season and third in the last four games.

The Razorbacks would respond with a three-run second inning before the teams would trade solo runs in the third and fourth inning.

Junior outfielder Dasan Harris hit his second home run of the season in the fourth inning before doubling up his homers in the eighth, his first multi-home run game of his career.

OU would plate a pair in each the sixth and seventh via Kyle Branch's second home run of the season, a two-run shot, and a two-run double from Lachance to take the lead.

In the eighth, OU would add a solo run via Harris' second homer of the day before Arkansas would score seven in the home half of the inning. The Hogs scored via fielder's choice, four singles and one double.

The Sooners put a pair aboard in the ninth but a flyout to center would end the threat and game.
