Summy Wins Hogan Golfer of the Month Honor

September 10, 2025 | Men's Golf

NORMAN – Oklahoma men's golf senior Jase Summy has been named the August Golfer of the Month, the Ben Hogan Award announced Wednesday.

Summy, currently ranked No. 4 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, earned the honor following balloting by the selection committee and a social media fan vote. He collected a world-best 56.04 WAGR points during the month.

The Keller, Texas, native opened August with a historic victory at the Western Amateur, becoming the first Sooner since Charlie Coe in 1950 to win the prestigious event. Summy defeated Ethan Fang in the championship match by the largest margin of victory in tournament history. He went on to finish T8 in stroke play at the U.S. Amateur, advancing to the round of 32 after an opening-round match-play win.

Later in the month, Summy helped Oklahoma open the collegiate season in style, claiming co-medalist honors at the Carmel Cup at Spyglass Hill. He fired a final-round 66 (-6) to surge to 11-under and secure the individual title. He capped his remarkable month by leading the United States to a 17-9 triumph at the Walker Cup, where he paced the Americans with a team-high three points.

Summy bested Oklahoma State's Fang and world No. 1 Jackson Koivun of Auburn for the monthly accolade.

The Ben Hogan Award Golfer of the Month is selected by a committee comprised of foundation members, Friends of Golf, and the award's partners. Fan voting across @BenHoganAward social media channels also contributes to the final tally.

Presented annually each May, the Ben Hogan Award Presented by Baird recognizes the nation's top collegiate golfer, considering all college, amateur, and professional events played over a 12-month period. The 2026 award season spans from the 2025 NCAA Championships through the 2026 NCAA Regionals.

The Ben Hogan Award has been presented at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth since 2002. Prior to that, the original Ben Hogan Trophy was awarded by Friends of Golf at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles beginning in 1990. Since its move to Fort Worth, the foundation has donated more than $1.3 million to charitable endeavors, providing scholarship grants to colleges and support to golf programs and organizations in need.
