Women's Golf Begins Season at Pebble Beach Friday
August 28, 2025 | Women's Golf
NORMAN — Oklahoma women's golf opens its 2025-26 season on Friday at the Carmel Cup, hosted at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif. The six-count-five event features 18 holes each day, with team and individual champions crowned on Sunday.
"We're thrilled to get this season going," head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said. "We feel really good about our team. We return everyone from last year's squad and added three talented freshmen, so we're excited to build on the success of last season."
The Sooners, who advanced to their first NCAA Championships since 2018 last spring, return their entire roster from a year ago while welcoming three newcomers to the mix. This week's lineup includes seniors Savannah Barber, Gracie Mayo, Reagan Chaney, MaKayla Tyrrell and Isbelle Schlick, along with sophomore Audrey Rischer. That group accounted for 188 of Oklahoma's 195 rounds during the 2024-25 campaign.
"To be able to open our year at a place like Pebble Beach is awesome," Drouin-Luttrell added. "It's one of the premier courses in the country, and a place that we've gotten to know well. We're excited to get out there and compete."
This marks Oklahoma's fourth consecutive appearance at the Carmel Cup to open the season. The Sooners placed seventh last year, led by Barber's tie for 18th.
The 54-hole event features eight teams, five of which, including Oklahoma, qualified for the 2025 NCAA Championships.
