Rowing to Compete in Inaugural SEC Championship on Sunday

May 09, 2025 | Rowing

NORMAN — The No. 24 Oklahoma Rowing team heads to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to compete in the inaugural SEC Championship on Melton Lake this Sunday, May 11.

OU will face fellow SEC opponents No. 2 Texas, No. 4 Tennessee and Alabama on the water Sunday morning. 2025 marks Oklahoma's first season in the conference after 15 years in the Big 12, and the first year for the SEC to sponsor the sport of rowing.

Individual boat finishes of six races will determine the conference champion, and festivities open with the third varsity eight at 8:05 a.m. CT. There will not be an automatic qualifier out of the conference championship, with all four teams vying for at-large bids to the NCAA Rowing Championship on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J., May 30-June 1.

The 2025 SEC Rowing Championship will air live on SECN+ starting 8 a.m. CT and results will be available via HereNow.
