Sooners Set to Host NCAA Norman Regional
May 03, 2025 | Women's Golf
NORMAN – Postseason women's golf returns to Norman for the first time since 2019 as Oklahoma gets set to compete at the NCAA Norman Regional, hosted at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. The Sooners, seeded sixth, are making their 12th NCAA Regional appearance under head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell in what serves as the qualifying event for the NCAA Championship.
OU will compete alongside 11 other teams in a 54-hole event that begins Monday and wraps up Wednesday. The top five teams, along with the lowest-scoring individual not on an advancing team, will earn a spot at the NCAA Championship set for May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. Due to expected weather, teams will play 36 holes on Monday in Norman, followed by 18 holes spread out over Tuesday and Wednesday.
Teeing off for the Oklahoma lineup will be junior Savannah Barber, junior Gracie Mayo, senior Reagan Chaney, freshman Audrey Rischer and junior MaKayla Tyrrell. Junior Isabelle Schlick will serve as the available substitute for the team.
SEASON OVERVIEW
Oklahoma is enjoying its best spring in more than a decade, highlighted by a team title at the Paradise Invitational and individual wins by Mayo and Rischer. OU finished in the top five at every spring tournament of the regular season, marking the first time in over 10 years the Sooners have posted five straight top-five finishes. They placed outside the top five in only three of their 11 events this season.
