CARLSBAD, Calif. – Savannah Barber capped her junior season with a strong showing at the NCAA Championships, finishing tied for 24th after carding an even-par 72 in Monday's final round at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's North Course.
The Fort Worth, Texas, native matched her opening-round score to close the tournament at 2-over 290 – the fifth-lowest 72-hole total in program history. She opened her final round with a bogey but bounced back with a birdie on the par-3 12th. After two more bogeys on the back nine, Barber put together a highlight stretch on holes three through five, notching a birdie and an eagle to return to even par for the day.
Barber's performance marked her ninth top-25 finish of the season and the fourth time she led the Sooners' lineup. She also finished 11th at the SEC Championships and paced Oklahoma in scoring average throughout much of the year.
Her third-round 69 was the lowest score by a Sooner at the 2025 NCAA Championships and vaulted her 39 spots up the leaderboard, earning one of nine individual spots in Monday's final round. It marked her 13th career top-20 finish and continued a consistent season in which she competed in every tournament for the Sooners.
Arkansas' Maria Jose Marin claimed the individual national title with a 12-under 276, holding off Florida State's top-ranked Mirabel Ting by two shots. Arkansas and FSU both advanced to match play, joining Stanford, Oregon, Northwestern, USC, Texas, and Virginia in the championship bracket.
Oklahoma is set to return nearly its entire roster next season under head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. The Sooners turned in their best season since 2017–18, capping the year with their first NCAA Championships appearance since 2018 and a tie for 21st — five spots better than their seed.
OU opened the spring with a win at the Paradise Invitational and saw two players capture individual titles — Gracie Mayo at Paradise and Audrey Rischer at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic to close the regular season. Rischer and Reagan Chaney combined for three SEC weekly honors, and the team finished in the top five at every spring event leading into the SEC Championship.
The Sooners placed outside the top five just three times in 12 tournaments, and their fourth-place finish at the NCAA Norman Regional was the program's best regional result since 2014. The team's 288.6 adjusted scoring average over 35 rounds ranks as the second-lowest in school history.
