Barber, Oklahoma in 13th Through Second Round of SEC Championship
April 15, 2025 | Women's Golf
BELLEAIR, Fla.Ā ā Savannah Barber climbed into the top 15 as Oklahoma wrapped day two of the SEC Championship in 13th place at Pelican Golf Club.
The top eight teams after Wednesday's final round of stroke play will advance to match play. Quarterfinals and semifinals are slated for Thursday, with the championship match set for Friday.
Barber (T13, -1) is one of just 15 players under par through 36 holes at the par-70 course. Starting on the back nine, the junior opened with seven straight pars, then carded a birdie on 17 and a double bogey on 18. She added four more pars before a bogey on No. 5 put her 2-over for the round. Back-to-back birdies down the stretch brought her back to even for the day and 1-under overall.
She was the only Sooner inside the top 50. Gracie Mayo (T62, +9) and Reagan Chaney (T62, +9) shared 62nd, while Audrey Rischer (T68, +10) and MaKayla Tyrrell (T76, +15) rounded out the OU lineup.
In Wednesday's final round, Barber will look to extend Oklahoma's streak of top-15 individual finishes at the conference championship to 14 straight seasons. The Sooners tee off Wednesday at 9:10 a.m. CT from the 10th hole.
South Carolina maintained its lead at the top of the team standings, holding a 14-shot edge over second-place LSU. Texas is the only other team under par. Ten SEC programs rank inside the nation's top 25, with two others, including No. 36 Oklahoma, inside the top 40.
South Carolina's Eila Galitsky leads the individual leaderboard at 7-under, followed by teammate Hannah Darling at 6-under.
