Chris Opheim joined Oklahoma Athletics in December 2022 and serves as the Director of Fan Engagement & Experience.

In this role, he oversees marketing efforts for men’s basketball and soccer, and supervises marketing efforts for men’s and women’s tennis. Opheim also oversees game production, as well as fan engagement & experience initiatives.

Prior to Oklahoma, Opheim previously worked for Mississippi State Athletics in a variety of roles from 2018 to 2022. From 2021 to 2022, he served as the Director of Fan Experience. In that role, he oversaw the marketing & fan engagement department, men’s basketball and baseball, and fan engagement & experience initiatives. From 2018 to 2021, he served as the Director of Spirit & Fan Engagement. In that role, he oversaw spirit squads and mascots, special event production and fan & community engagement efforts.

Prior to Mississippi State, Opheim served as the Director of Spirit Squads for Washington State University where he oversaw spirit squads, mascots, and game day fan engagement initiatives.

He attended Northern Iowa from 2003 to 2005 and the University of Arkansas from 2005 to 2008.

Opheim hails from Iowa, and his wife, Becca, also works for Oklahoma Athletics.
