Starting Home Weekend Against LSU

NORMAN — No. 21 Soccer looks to bring its unbeaten streak to 11 games as the Sooners host LSU Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

Tomorrow night's game is Oklahoma Celtic FC Night and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's Athletes Supporting Athletes game. Fans can also enter a raffle to win a signed crimson Oklahoma soccer jersey.

SERIES HISTORY

OU and LSU are meeting for the eighth time and the second time as SEC opponents. The Sooners are hosting the Tigers for the first time since 2012, a match that went to the Tigers in double overtime. There are no current Sooners on the roster that played at LSU in the 2024 meeting in Baton Rouge.

IN THE RANKINGS

Oklahoma reached its highest ranking of the season, coming in at No. 21 in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches Poll as well as No. 18 in the Top Drawer Soccer Poll.

LAST TIME OUT

OU overcame its first deficit at the half all season by scoring three second-half goals en route to a 3-1 win at Georgia Friday, Sept. 18. Elle Canty scored and assisted on another while Kate McCallister and Sophie Morrin also added one goal each.

THE SCOUT

LSU is 2-7-1 and 0-2 in SEC play after opening against No. 8 ranked Tennessee and No. 16 South Carolina through the first two matches of its conference slate. The Tigers dropped three matches in one-goal decisions, doing so against UCF, FGCU and Arizona State.

LSU earned the fifth seed in last year's SEC Tournament before making a run to the SEC Title game and falling just short in penalty kicks to Vanderbilt. The Tigers would respond and reach the NCAA Sweet 16 before falling again to Vanderbilt.

The Tigers are dangerous up top and are expected to return striker Sariyah Bailey after she breaked to compete with the U-20 Canada Women's National Team. Ava Galligan paces the team with four goals on the season.

STATISTICAL RANKINGS

The Sooners lead the SEC in points (108), goals (37), and goal differential (30). OU also ranks second in the country in all of those categories only to Purdue.

UNBEATEN TEAMS

Oklahoma is one of only 18 unbeaten teams and only one of seven unbeaten Power Four programs in the nation. It's the only time in school history that the Sooners have been unbeaten through the first 10 matches.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Freshman Kate McCallister earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors Monday after scoring the equalizer in the win at Georgia. It's the second such honor for the Sooners since joining the league after Ally Laccinole earned the recognition last season.

NOTABLE NUMBERS

2: OU needs two goals to set the program single-season goals record of 39. The Sooners are at 37 and are averaging 3.7 goals per game.

20: The Sooners are 4-0 at home with a +20 goal differential (22 goals for, two allowed). The Sooners have scored at least three goals in every home match.

23: Freshmen Kennedy Kaiser and Kate McCallister have combined for 17 of the 23 points tallied by freshmen this season, with 10 coming from Kaiser's five goals and seven from three goals and an assist by McCallister.
