Sooners Set Program Record for Consecutive Shutouts to Start Season

NORMAN — Kayla Keefer posted her second hat trick of the season and the Sooner backline turned in its fourth shutout in as many games as Oklahoma (4-0) blanked Colorado College (2-2), 6-0. OU has a 19-0 scoring margin through four games, leading the SEC while setting a program record for consecutive shutouts to start the season.

Oklahoma 6, Colorado College 0
OU outshot Colorado College, 9-3, in the first half, while scoring in the 5th and 37th minute. Keefer started the morning with a header goal on a service from Lexi Dendis just a few minutes into the match. The Sooners got a number of good looks on frame until its offensive pressure ushered in a second goal. Claire Curran served a ball into the box that was toed in by the Colorado College defense just in front of a sliding Emily Davey, making it 2-0.Ā

Keefer would score in the 51st and 53rd minute, notching her third-career hat trick while putting the game effectively out of reach. Keefer collected a carom in the box on her second goal of the day, while teaming up with Narissa Fults in the run of play for her third.Ā

After nearly netting her first goal earlier on in the game, Davey slotted in her first score as a Sooner in the 65th. The forward gathered a header following a corner before hooking in a goal from just outside the box.Ā

Freshmen Kate McCallister and Kennedy Kaiser capped the day with OU's final score in the 84th minute. McCallister played a ball forward to Kaiser who hammered home a goal inside the upper-left corner of the goal.Ā

Goalkeeper Callie Sullivan and the Oklahoma defense stood tall during its few tests as the Sooners tallied their fourth shutout in as many games, already one shy of its total from last season.
