NORMAN — The top-ranked Oklahoma men's gymnastics team will be the No. 1 national seed at the 2026 NCAA Championships, which will be held April 17-18 at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill. The NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships selections were released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Sooners, who won their second straight MPSF Championship and 21st overall on Saturday, enter the NCAA Championships as the top seed for the second consecutive year. Both April 17 qualifying sessions will be televised on ESPN+ and the finals on April 18 will be televised on ESPN2.
OU will face off against No. 4 Nebraska, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 8 California, No. 9 Greenville and No. 12 Springfield in the first qualifying session at 1 p.m. CT on Friday, April 17 on ESPN+.
The second qualifying session, to be held at 7 p.m. CT on April 17 on ESPN+, will consist of No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Stanford, No. 6 Penn State, No. 7 Illinois, No. 10 Navy and No. 11 Army.
The top three teams and the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from each qualifying session to the finals. The NCAA Championship finals, set for 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 18 on ESPN2 will determine team, all-around and individual event champions.
Oklahoma is No. 1 in the national rankings with a 328.150 NQA (National Qualifying Average). Michigan is No. 2 (324.250), Stanford is No. 3 (322.988), Nebraska is No. 4 (320.963), Ohio State is No. 5 (317.863), Penn State is No. 6 (315.375), Illinois is No. 7 (315.075), California is No. 8 (314.913), Greenville is No. 9 (311.325), Navy is No. 10 (310.850), Army is No. 11 (309.963) and Springfield is No. 12 (308.500).
Oklahoma faced four of its five qualifying session opponents during the 2026 regular season. The Sooners defeated Nebraska twice (323.950 to 315.500 at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 17 and 331.100 to 321.150 on Feb. 28 in Norman.), and California three times this season (331.600 to 315.700 on March 7 in Norman, 325.250 to 315.100 in Berkeley, Calif. and 332.100 to 315.700 at the MPSF Championship in Berkeley on April 4). OU beat Ohio State (331.100 to 317.700 on Feb. 7) and topped Greenville 320.000 to 305.650 on Feb. 1 in Norman.
Oklahoma has won 12 NCAA men's gymnastics championships, including nine national titles under head coach Mark Williams (since 2000). OU has reached 25 consecutive NCAA finals, or the finals of every championship held since 2000. OU has finished among the top 3 in 23 of the last 24 NCAA Championships held, dating back to the 2001 season. OU's most recent national championship was in 2018, the final in a run of four straight national titles. Oklahoma and Penn State are tied for the most men's gymnastics national championships nationally.
