NORMAN — No. 14 Oklahoma completed the series sweep over Missouri Sunday afternoon with an 8-4 win.
The day was highlighted by the return of starting left-handed pitcher Cord Rager who had missed two starts the previous two weekends with a minor arm injury. The freshman went five shutout innings of one-run ball while walking none and tying a career best with eight strikeouts.
At the plate, OU (27-12, 10-8 SEC) continued to surge with a pair of home runs and a triple on the day. Brendan Brock hit his team-leading ninth of the season to put the first run on the board before Camden Johnson hit his seventh of the year on a three-run shot in the fourth.
Following Brock's leadoff homer in the second, the Sooners would plate three more in the frame on a groundout RBI from Deiten Lachance and RBI singles from Dasan Harris and Jason Walk.
To the fourth, OU would put up another four runs with three coming off the bat of Johnson. Trey Gambill would provide the other run scored on a single to center.
Rager exited at the top of the sixth after facing the minimum through five and allowing just one hit. The OU bullpen of Trent Collier (1.1), Gavyn Jones (1.1), Kadyn Leon (0.1) and Jackson Cleveland combined to close the game with Collier fanning a pair to Jones and Cleveland's one each.
Missouri (20-20, 3-15) would break up the shutout in the seventh on a solo home run before plating three more across the eighth and ninth via singles to bring the final to 8-4.
