NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 16 Oklahoma took a back-and-forth game two of the series at Vanderbilt by a final of 13-11 to force a series-decider Saturday.
OU (23-11, 6-8 SEC) was powered by a trio of home runs, two of which were grand slams. Junior Camden Johnson hit two of OU's three homers, his first career multi-home run game. Deiten Lachance launched his second home run in as many games on a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth.
The Sooners raced out to a 5-0 lead at the top of the first, highlighted by Johnson's first home run of the night on a three-run shot to right. The Commodores (21-15, 7-7) responded with an eight-run home half of the first inning and tacked on another run in the second to push the lead to 9-5.
Oklahoma would storm back with a pair of four-run innings in the fourth and sixth, all coming via grand slam from Johnson and Lachance. It was the first time OU has hit two grand slams in a game since 2022 vs. Baylor.
Vandy would pull within a pair on a two-run home run in the sixth before OU relievers Jason Bodin (2.0 IP) and Jackson Cleveland would combine for three shutout innings to force the Saturday rubber match.
Sophomore Trent Collier earned his first win of the season in relief, going four innings of one-run ball on three hits and two walks to go with a career-high six strikeouts. Cleveland earned his team-leading fifth save of the season in the ninth.
