No. 1 Sooners Go Undefeated in SEC with Win at No. 8 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team finishedĀ SECĀ competition with a perfect 8-0 record after a 197.925-197.500 victory over No. 8 Arkansas Friday night inside Bud Walton Arena.Ā 

OU is the firstĀ SECĀ team since Florida in 2022 to finish with an undefeatedĀ conference record.Ā The Sooners are now 13-0-1Ā onĀ the yearĀ with 10 victories overĀ topĀ 10 teams.Ā Ā 

Addison Fatta secured her seventh all-around title of the season with a 39.625, her fifth score of 39.600 or better. Mackenzie Estep placed second, just .025 behind Fatta,Ā withĀ a career-high 39.600 inĀ her third all-around appearance.Ā 

Hannah Scheible won her thirdĀ vault titleĀ with aĀ 9.95, whileĀ Ella Murphy claimed her second beam titleĀ with a near-perfect 9.975.Ā Ā 

A trio of 9.90-plusĀ scoresĀ on the barsĀ paced the Sooners to a 49.475-49.275 lead after the first rotation. Estep was the high score of the event forĀ OUĀ withĀ a career-high 9.95.Ā TheĀ freshmanĀ now has a careerĀ bestĀ of 9.95 or higherĀ onĀ vault,Ā barsĀ and floor.Ā Ā 

Scheible and FattaĀ recorded back-to-back 9.90s in the front half of the lineup, delivering steady routines to help OU build an early lead. Faith Torrez notched a 9.875 in the anchor spot, while Ella Murphy led off the rotation with a 9.850. Making her collegiate debut on the bars,Ā Caitlin Smith added a 9.825.Ā Ā 

A 49.575 on vaultĀ had OU in frontĀ 99.050-98.625 at the halfway point. All six vaulters went 9.850 or higher as the Sooners recorded their seventhĀ team scoreĀ of 49.500 or better on the apparatus.Ā Scheible had theĀ topĀ scoreĀ for the second week in a row, matching her season high with a 9.95 on her handspring pike half.Ā Ā 

Fatta and Keira Wells notchedĀ matchingĀ 9.925s,Ā while Estep added a 9.90. Elle Mueller recorded aĀ 9.875Ā and Elizabeth Blessey tallied a 9.850.Ā 

The Sooners used a 49.375 onĀ floorĀ to lead 148.425-147.850 after the third rotation.Ā Estep and Mueller led the wayĀ with 9.90s in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively. Leading off her second event of the night, Murphy recorded a 9.875, followed by a 9.850 from Fatta. In her floor debut, Wells earned a 9.850Ā in the No. 3 spot. Kamila Pawlak anchored with a 9.80.Ā 

The final rotation saw OU put up a 49.500 on beam to secure the win.Ā ForĀ the second time this season, Murphy wasĀ nearly perfectĀ with a 9.975 in the No. 3 spot.Ā FattaĀ extended her streak to six meets with a 9.90-plus score with a 9.95 in the leadoff position.Ā MuellerĀ earned a 9.90 in the No. 5 spot, her fourth straight score of 9.90 or better.Ā Estep tallied a career-high 9.85, while WellsĀ addedĀ a 9.825.Ā Ā 

The final home meet of the season is SundayĀ afternoonĀ whenĀ the Sooners host TWU for Senior Day at 1:45 p.m. Torrez and fellow senior Ava Siegfeldt will be honoredĀ immediatelyĀ following the meet.Ā
