NORMAN — OU Softball freshman
Lexi McDaniel earned conference honors yesterday and added national honors to her week after being named D1Softball Freshman of the Week as announced Tuesday, March 3.
McDaniel is the second Sooner in as many weeks to earn national honors after classmate
Kendall Wells was named Softball America Freshman of the Week last week.
A freshman out of St. Joseph, Mo., McDaniel leads the team with a .556 batting average after a team-best .769 weekend at the plate. The righty hitter launched four home runs, including a grand slam, while driving in 12 of OU's 116 runs.
McDaniel is part of an OU freshman class that has combined for 32 of OU's 86 home runs. Between freshmen
Lexi McDaniel,
Kendall Wells,
Kai Minor and
Allyssa Parker, the quartet leads OU in at least one offensive statistical category.
The Sooners continue non-conference play tonight at North Texas. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
