OU Run-Rules Coppin State 22-1 in Home Opener

NORMAN — No. 21 Oklahoma run-ruled Coppin State in the home opener at Kimrey Family Stadium Friday evening in Norman by a final of 22-1 in seven innings.
The Sooners (5-0) put up crooked numbers in every inning they went to the plate, starting with a five-run first. On the mound, junior left-handed pitcher Cameron Johnson continued his impressive start to the 2026 season with a seven-strikeout performance in five innings, surrendering just one run on three hits with no walks.
Eleven Sooners registered a hit in the game, with nine batting in at least one run. Sophomore Drew Dickerson hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning on a three-run shot to right center, one of four extra-base hits for the Sooners on the night. Oklahoma drew 14 walks on the night while the OU pitching staff walked none.
Sophomores Jaden Barfield and Kadyn Leon finished the game on the mound with Barfield fanning one and Leon striking out the side in the seventh and final inning.
Three newcomers made their Sooner debut Friday. Myles Davis, Connor Larkin and Uriah Walters recorded their first base hits with Larkin and Walters bringing in their first collegiate runs.
