MADISON, Wis. āĀ The Oklahoma XC women earned 18th at the Nuttycombe Invitational Friday morning in Madison, Wis., highlighted by freshman Domtila Cheruto's 18th-place finish.
Cheruto led the Sooners the entire race, gaining 28 spots in the second half to cross the line in 19:40.0. Junior Sanae Hassnaoui was the next Sooner to finish, running 20:02.0 for 32nd. Freshman Sarafina Kibet and senior Hasnae Goulamzi followed, finishing 75th (20:36.7) and 146th (21:49.9), respectively. The last scorer for the Sooners was junior Abby Jepchirchir, finishing in 21:49.9 for 194th place.Ā
The men competed in an 8k directly after the women, where sophomore Ronald Ngetich earned the best finish for the Sooner men, finishing in 23:44.8 for 79th place. Austin Popplewell crossed the line next, finishing in 24:18.1, followed by Hayden Gray (25:13.4). Josh Cherry (25:44.4) and Hamza Belkhalfi (26.12.5) rounded out scoring for the men.
A select group of women are set to take the course at the Weis-Crockett invitational next Saturday, Oct. 17th, in Stillwater, Okla., to wrap up the regular season for the Sooners.
