Sooners Go to Mississippi State

NORMANĀ  — Oklahoma Soccer starts its weekend in Mississippi when the Sooners go to Mississippi State Thursday, Oct. 15 for a 6 p.m. kickoff against the Bulldogs.

HOW TO FOLLOW
The game will be streamed on SEC Network+ with Cody Blaszczak (play-by-play) and Henry Zapata (analyst) on the call. Live stats will be available on statbroadcast.com.Ā

SERIES HISTORY

This is just the third meeting all-time between the two programs. OU and Mississippi State first met in 2024 during regular season play. Last season the two teams played down to the wire in the first round of the SEC Tournament before the Bulldogs scored the winner in the 89th minute.Ā

LAST TIME OUT

Oklahoma Soccer had its streak of not being shut out snapped at 13 games as the (NR/20) Sooners dropped a 2-0 decision to one of the stingiest defenses in the nation in (RV/NR) Auburn Friday, Oct. 9 at John Crain Field.

THE SCOUT

Mississippi State is 8-1-4 overall and 2-0-4 in SEC play. The Bulldogs are in their first season under the direction of Kevin O'Brien. O'Brien was at Lipscomb for 14 seasons prior to taking the job in Starkville. With the Bison, O'Brien helped Lipscomb to 12 Atlantic Sun Conference league titles.Ā

MSU's lone loss came to Charlotte, 3-0, in Starkville Sept. 6. OU and Mississippi State have only played one like-opponent in Oklahoma State. Both the Sooners and Bulldogs earned victories in those meetings.Ā

The Bulldogs have scored 25 goals while allowing 20. Six of those 25 goals have come in SEC play, while MSU has also played to three 0-0 draws during the 2026 SEC season so far.

MAC HERMANN TROPHY WATCH LIST RECOGNITION

Junior forward Kayla Keefer was named to the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List on Wednesday. Keefer is one of 30 players across the country tabbed to the list as she leads the nation in goals (15) and is second in points (32) through 14 matches.Ā

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Freshman Kate McCallister earned her second SEC Freshman of the Week honor of the season after being tabbed to the honor Monday, Oct. 5. The freshman is the first two-time SEC Freshman of the Week in program history. Three of her four goals this season have come on the road (at Oklahoma State, at Georgia and at Texas).

NOTABLE NUMBERS

2: Oklahoma will play two games in the state of Mississippi this week, with Thursday marking the first of a swing that features Ole Miss on Sunday. It's also the second meeting in regular season play between OU and MSU.

4: The Sooners are 3-3 in league play and one win shy of tallying the most conference victories in a season as a member of the SEC.

10: With a win the Sooners would reach double-digit victories for the third season in a row. It would be just the second time in program history that OU has done so (2014-16 was the previous time).

27: Freshmen Kennedy Kaiser and Kate McCallister have combined for 21 of the 27 points tallied by freshmen this season, with 10 coming from Kaiser's five goals and 11 from four goals and three assists by McCallister.
