NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2025 season Friday morning in Stillwater, Okla., at the Cowboy Preview. Freshman

Evans Biwott crossed three seconds behind to secure second.
The men's team finished second in the 5K with 32 points, just three points shy of No. 3 Oklahoma State. The women's squad placed third with 92 points. The preview's function is to prepare runners for upcoming meets and provide a glimpse into what the season has to offer.
"I'm proud of the effort we put in today, it's a good way to start off the year at a beautiful course," men's head cross country coach Jay Weaver said. "We are looking forward to heading to Lawton next weekend and really getting things going at the end of September. Overall, I'm very pleased with the effort today."
Oklahoma freshmen Ngetich and Biwott led the pack the entirety of the course, both posting personal records of 14:43.7 and 14:46.6, respectively, to finish first and second place. Four other men posted personal bests, including transfers
Hayden Gray (15:51.7) and
Adrian Stuphan (15:57.6).
Sophomore
Leah Jeruto clocked the best finish for the women's squad, followed by returner
Megan Johnson. Seasoned Sooner
Erin O'Brien shaved 20 seconds off her previous PR, clocking 11:21.1. In her cross country debut for Oklahoma, sophomore
Mia McGlade posted a personal best time of 11:21.1 and returner
Mary Van Dyke tallied another PR for the Sooner.

The Oklahoma men and women will split next week for competition. The men will race in the Aggie Duels in Lawton, Okla., on Friday, Sept. 5 while the women take on the JK Gold Classic in Wichita, Kan., on Saturday, Sept. 6.
