Soccer Looks to Continue Momentum Thursday Night

Sooners Host East Texas A&M

NORMAN  — No. 22 Oklahoma Soccer completes a three-match home stand to start the season when OU hosts East Texas A&M Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. The match is free admission and can be watched on SEC Network+.

HOW TO FOLLOW
The match will be streamed on SEC Network+, while live stats will be available on statbroadcast.com.

PROMOS ON THE PITCH
Thursday's match is Camp Crimson Night and March to the Match. The first 750 students in attendance will also receive a hot dog and soda combo. The Pride of Oklahoma will be performing at halftime of the match.

LAST TIME OUT
Naomi Clark had her second brace in as many matches to aid in OU's 4-1 win against No. 22 Oklahoma State Sunday, Aug. 17. Ashley Tutas also scored in her second match with the Sooners and OU benefited from an OSU own goal in the first minute. 

The win was OU's first win against a ranked team since 2022 as well as its first win against OSU in the regular season since 2018. 

SERIES HISTORY
Oklahoma and East Texas A&M are meeting for the first time. East Texas A&M was formerly known as Texas A&M Commerce. 

THE SCOUT
East Texas A&M is 1-0 after defeating Little Rock, 4-1, Aug. 14 in the season opener … the Lions advanced to the Southland Conference Championship Match before losing to Stephen F. Austin, 2-0, last season … East Texas A&M returns 2024 Southland Player of the Year, Kaydence Ramirez. 

SOONERS IN THE POLLS
Oklahoma entered the United Soccer Coaches Poll for the first time since 2017, earning the No. 22 slot as announced Tuesday, Aug. 19. OU also earned a slot in the Top Drawer Soccer poll, coming in at No. 25 this past Monday. 

WHATTYA SAY NAY
Naomi Clark is second in the nation in goals (four) and fourth in points (eight), earning herself a spot on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week. 

KNOW THE NAME - ALLY LACCINOLE
Freshman back Ally Laccinole logged all 90 minutes on the backline against OSU as well as 59 minutes in the opener against Creighton, earning SEC Freshman of the Week laurels.

HISTORIC DEBUT
Junior transfer Naomi Clark tallied a brace in her OU debut Thursday against Creighton, scoring in the 11th minute as well as the 57th. She is just the second Sooner in program history to notch a brace in their OU debut and the first since Jonette Coquat against Tulsa Sept. 1, 1998. 

NEW FACES
A total of 14 Sooners made their OU debut Thursday against Creighton. OU newcomers also combined for seven of OU's eight goals, with the lone remaining goal coming from an own goal. 

WATCH LIST WASHINGTON
Senior Alexis Washington returns having played in 60 games while making 59 starts across her OU career … Last week she was tabbed to the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Midfielders to Watch List … with 19 assists, Washington needs one more to set the OU career record for assists … she posted three goals and four assists last season, tied with incoming sophomore Juliette Rayo for the second most goals among OU returners. 

SENIORS OUT OF PROSPER
Seniors Hadley Murrell and Cassie Clifton, both out of Prosper, Texas, return a wealth of experience for the Sooners. Murrell started all 18 games last season and is the Sooners' leading scorer among all returners. Clifton logged the most minutes (1,574) of any Sooner player in 2024 outside of keeper Caroline Duffy

HOME SWEET HOME
OU plays 11 home matches this season, its most in a season since the 2009 campaign. Oklahoma starts the year with five home contests in the month of August, with OU playing six non-conference matches at John Crain Field. 

SUMMER SUCCESS
A trio of Sooners earned summer accolades in their respective leagues. Caroline Duffy was selected to the USLW All-League First Team with Annapolis Blues FC, while Riley Brown and Callie Sullivan earned defensive player of the year and goalkeeper of the year respectively in their conferences within the WPSL. 

TRANSFERS TO KNOW
The Sooners' roster features eight new transfers having joined after the 2024 season. The group includes:
FRESHMAN FACES
Oklahoma's roster features 11 freshman, 10 of which are true freshmen. Five of those student-athletes hail from within the state of Oklahoma. Morgan Paley returns at goalkeeper as a redshirt-freshman.
